For working class folks, a lot of stuff happen to cause the disconnect. Bad roads, bumper-to-bumper traffic chaos, the mythical work-life balance, and social crisis.
Connectivity and social interactions are essential for the human spirit. These can be achieved by the little routine or not-too-routine things we do in the organizations we work for – a dash to the coffee room so we can huddle together and share a lewd joke, lunch time conversations that range from weekend trysts to talks about the adventures of our kids to religious fellowships. These activities make a difference to how enlivening our spirits become.
So also is working in organizations that do business and not charity. Creating the culture of connection via these little activities can help tame the disconnect we often feel.
